In the media, advertising provides a large contribution to funding . In addition other revenue is gathered by sales revenue, sponsorship and in the case of TV Companies the sales of program material.

In 2002 advertisers spent £3.1bn on TV advertising in Britain. ITV companies received 53.7 per cent of this although their share has now dropped to 52 per cent. This is a staggeringly large amount of money. Although ITV only hast 24.5% of the market,
