Job
The Life of Job. Job was a blameless and upright man who kept his faith despite great suffering. Even though he did not deserve to suffer, he did, but he never lost his faith in God. This paper includes an overview of the life of Job, what his contribution to the history of Israel was, and the parallels between him and Christ. Job was a very wealthy man. He lived in Uz on the border of Edom, Southeast of Palestine near The Dead Sea. He was blameless and upright, he feared God and shunned evil. He had seven sons and three daughters, and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred donkeys, and had a very large number of servants. Job was the greatest man among all of the people in the East. One day the angels presented themselves before the Lord, and Satan also went with them. God asked Satan where he had come from and Satan told him that he had been roaming the earth. God said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” Satan said that if he removed the hedge of protection around Job that he would curse God to his face.
