    The poem I have chosen to write about is “Dulce et Decorum Est,” by Wilfred Owen. I chose this poem because I think that it relates to the war issues that are presently going on in our country. The title of the poem means, “It is sweet and proper to die for ones country.” However, through out the poem Owen uses explicit imagery to show to us that there is nothing sweet about fighting in combat. It is ironic that he chooses this for the title because as the poem progresses, you realize Owens true feelings about war. In the first stanza he describes the condition that the solders are in.
