Rise of the unlikely

    The rise of Howard Dean to front runner status has caught many people by surprise. The unlikely rise of a liberal governor from the small state of Vermont has been the result of an aggressive strategy to distance him from the views of the other democratic candidates as well as turning the internet into a fundraising machine and increasing his appeal to younger voters through the use of his blog website. Dean has used his anti-war stance to get his first taste of national media attention. He has gone on the offensive by attacking President Bush’s tax cuts as Republican catering to the upper income bracket of America. Another position taken is announcing a plan that would introduce extra health care benefits for a wider range of Americans by repealing most of the Bush tax cut. Dean established his leadership Pac well before most of the other candidates vying for the nomination and to this point has been very professional and effective. Other candidates in the field have offered a good amount of criticism for some of his blunt comments made during campaign events most notably one made about the confederate flag.
