File sharing may not have changed music in general but it definitely is the technological breakthrough that forever changed the way we listen to music. With hundreds of millions of downloads available on the Internet in high quality sound, fairly small file sizes, and all for free? One would ask why wouldn’t you download. So with millions downloading, basically any song that has ever been released including that long lost live Beatles track or the B-Side to an old Elvis record, we are obviously going to see a drop in record sales. The most popular sources today to get downloaded material from is P2P (peer to peer) software developers Kazzaa and Morpheous. But about 7 to ten years ago when downloading began this wasn’t the case. The days of going to a certain website and pressing links of the songs you would like to download and waiting hours to download them over a dial up connection are gone.
