    Lord of the Flies Essay Often the actions of a character indicate what kind of person he/she is. In the novel Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, Ralph, Jack, Piggy, Simon, Samneric and Rogers actions indicate what kind of people they are. Ralph’s actions indicate that he’s a responsible, fair leader. Jack’s actions indicate that he is a savage and a cruel strict leader. Piggy’s actions indicate that he is intelligent, civilized, weak and reliant on others to survive. Simon’s actions indicate that he is religious, wise and has spiritual powers. Samneric’s actions indicate that they are incapable of acting independently of one another, civilized and represent loss of identity and fear. Rogers’ actions indicate that he is extremely cruel, savage and represents the worst in a person when there is no rules. Ralph and Jack are the two main characters and naturally they contrast with one another. Ralph is an attractive boy and a natural leader, the sort of intelligent, well-adjusted, athletic boy who easily might become the idol of his schoolmates. On the contrary Jack is a tall, thin, bony boy, with red hair beneath his black cap. His face is crumpled and freckled and ugly without silliness. Ralph and Jack both
