Voting Rights Act of 1965
After the Fifteenth Amendment was passed to give African Americans the rights to vote, there was still voting racial discrimination known in the U.S. Voting Rights Act of 1965 took away literacy tests with voting in a couple southern states. It also banned states from using educational achievements or good character tests when voting. Officials made sure that no racial discrimination occurred. The Voting Rights Act sheltered any minority group who wanted to vote.
There were a lot of violent protests when it came to blacks voting and basically doing anything. The Ku Klux Klan, a terrorist organization, murdered many black people to prevent them from voting. Also, a bunch of confederate generals killed blacks in South Carolina so they
