The New H.N.I.C.
"The New H.N.I.C. (Head Niggas In Charge): The Death of Civil Rights and the Reign of Hip Hop, written by Todd Boyd, discusses the past and present controversies surrounding hip hop. Boyd explains how hip hop, an African American movement, has not simply become a part of American culture but instead has completely transformed it and will continue to do so. The book describes hip hop as the true from of African American freedom of speech and an outlet for African Americans to really be who they want to be. Boyd states that "Hip hop has rejected and now replaced the pious, sanctimonious nature of civil rights as the defining moment of Blackness."
