What Really Matters?
After reading the last book of Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, one main theme seemed to be the most prevalent and emphasized throughout the text. This idea is that there is really only one thing that Christianity exists for. Christianity exists for the sole purpose of making believers become more like Christ, perfecting them all the time and turning them into images of Christ himself. According to Lewis, this is all that matters, not the Theology, doctrine, and denomination that many religious groups in the world today attempt to force onto people or convert them to the way that this religion or that denomination teaches. Sometimes the Theology and doctrine is what turns people away from Christianity. However, he also explains that although it isn’t the main purpose of Christianity, doctrines and Theology are important in understanding God and reaching the main goal of Christianity.
