    How to Throw a Disc There are many different ways to throw a disc or Frisbee. Today I would like to share some of them with you. These are the backhand, hammer, side arm, roller, and straddle put. I will also explain how and why a disc fly’s the way that it does. The first throw is the Backhand Throw. This is the most commonly used throw. We start with our feet shoulder width apart, lining our shoulder’s up with the target. Hold the disc with your thumb and forefinger, extending the arm in-line with the shoulders and holding the disc parallel with the ground. We do this to line up the shot. Reach across your chest being sure to keep the disc level. Now, pull the disc across your chest as flat as you can and release at the end of the throw. The disc will fly in a slight left-hooking pattern. For a left-handed player it will hook right because the disc is spinning in the opposite direction. Be sure to follow through. Put your whole body into the throw. This will greatly increase accuracy and distance. Once this basic form is learned a run-up can be added to the throw for more power.
