How Have I Changed

    Topic: Think back to what you were like as a student and as a person in your first year of high school. Consider yourself now. Tell us how you have changed, and why. We are more interested in learning about how you have changed or grown as a result of an experience rather than the details of that experience. Reflecting back on my life up till this point, I can say that I have changed immensely. At one point, my world revolved around school – every spare moment seemed wasted if I was not studying to improve my grades. It was parental pressure in the beginning; however, I soon realized that I was my main source of anxiety. My determination to succeed suppressed my fear of obtaining a bad grade. Comparisons, I believe, are to blame; I used to compare myself to all the “advanced kids,” who seemed so perfect to me with their straight A’s in honors classes and extracurricular activities. It sounds funny to say I wanted to be a “nerd,” but I wanted to be just like them. Everyone has their embarras
