The two books I choose to discuss today were both from the best-selling series, the Vampire Chronicles, by Anne Rice. These are Interview With The Vampire and The Vampire Lestat. Interview With The Vampire is the story of Louis and of his journey through mortal and immortal life. His story originates in the year 1891, in Louisiana along the Mississippi River. Louis is twenty-five and the wealthy owner of a cotton plantation; wrecked with guilt and remorse over the untimely death of his brother. Living like a "man who only wishes to die but has no courage to end it himself", he grows increasingly apathetic; an open invitation to "murderers, sailors, maniacs, theives, anybody". But ultimately it is none of these who find him first, but the resplendent and debauched vampire Lestat who against Louis's will indoctrinates him into the vampire way of life.
