Juvenile Deliquency

Common descriptions that individuals would use to describe the United States, would be freedom, democracy, and capitalism, but now the most popular description to describe America is violence and crime. A huge portion of the future children of America have been indulged with the interest of crime and violence. What can we do to stop children and juveniles from becoming violent or delinquents, in order to put a stop to it; we must diminish the population of juvenile delinquency. Reducing Juvenile delinquency would help the United States in winning the battle against violence and crime. Parent’s have a strong influence in determining wither their children become juvenile delinquents. In order to end juvenile delinquency society as a whole must recognize and understand the cause of the problem. Parents influence adolescents tremendously, especially when dealing with the issue of substance use among juveniles, as it has been found to have a closer correlation to violence and delinquency (Barnes, Hoffman, & Welte, 2002;; Winters, 1998). Although at times there might not be a straight link between parental influence and delinquency, there is a link between parents, substance use, and future delinquent acts by adolescents.
