Philosophy Descartes
Since the dawn of time, man has pondered the endless quest to answer the
perennial question of knowledge and what we really know. Ha ha!! Just
kidding, only wanted to get your attention! Let me start over&We have
been born and raised into a carnal and primitive society, using touch and
sight and sound as our sources of knowledge and learning. Babies cling to
their tender mothers in knowledge that they will be secure and protected
and children who bear the burn prints of hot plates on their once
flawless hands now know the reality of the glowing coils. Youth attend
school and pursue learning of the arts and sciences to morph into adults
and become an asset to society. Yet, how do we know the childhood hot
plate scars that we bear on our phalanges are really there? Was the
excruciating pain really sent from the nerve to the fingers to the brain
in an indubitable experience? Did we really latch on to our mothers in
hopes of receiving love and comfort? I argue that we really have no
knowledge of the external world.
