Product vs. Process
1. A. The Product point of view focuses mainly on the finished product of the writing. I do not agree with this point of view. The product point of view relates to error production in quite a few ways. The errors occur because the writer has not been taught the complex thought behind their writing. They have been taught only grammar. Grammar is good and very useful, but only if it is used in correspondence with thought process and imagination. Error use is confusing to me, but I think that for the product point of view the errors are used as examples. It is either right or wrong. If the paper is exceptionally written, but has a ton of grammar mistakes it will be an F paper. Both points of view need to be considered. As for error remediation, in the product point of view, the errors are not fixed, just pointed out and the grade is shot. The good thing about this is that the student will hopefully know what not to do next time, the bad thing is that the grade is based solely on these mistakes.
