George Reid was born in Scotland, 1845, and moved to Australia in 1852 with the rest of his family. He went for premier in 1894 and then became premier of Sydney. He introduced; a higher form of tax, land laws and social legislation. He was then elected for parliament in 1901, and formed a coalition in 1904. Unfortunately, he was defeated in 1905 by another labour representative group. In 1908 he left parliamentary and in 1909 was knighted.
