The Lion King under Review
The Lion King is a movie that many kids love and still watch many of times. It’s about a young lion prince that is born in Africa, thus making his uncle Scar the second in line to the throne. Scar plots with the hyenas to kill King Mufasa and Prince Simba, thus making himself King. The King is killed and Simba is led to believe by Scar that it was his fault, and so he flees the kingdom in shame. After years of exile he is persuaded to return home to overthrow the usurper and claim the kingdom as his own thus completing the "Circle of Life". It does not seem like such a bad little plot for kids but after further and more analytical review it seems it is a little bit too much.
The major argument made in this movie is primarily about guilt and redemption. It’s also about how a young person faces the responsibilities of an adult as they grow older and that they need to confront guilt and its associated fear. The scenery and the music that go along with this movie add even more to this major argument. When Simba is being convinced by his uncle Scar that he killed his father the scene is very dark and the music sounded very tragic. Then the sound went very loud and fast when the hyenas chase
