Flame Test
Flame Test
Introduction
Passing a light emitted by an element through a prism gives the atomic emission spectrum of the element. The amount of radian energy absorbed or emitted by a body is proportional ton the frequency of the radiation (E=hf). In order to distinguish elements from each other, physical and chemical properties are used to design experiments. I had to burn an element in a flame and see which color it gave off. Each element gives a characteristic color when burned in a flame. UV and infrared filters separate the exact wavelength of light emission. I thought that the results were pretty inte
