Ulysses S. Grant

    In order to earn the title of hero, someone must do something extraordinary. Throughout history many men and women have had to prove themselves to be heroes or heroines. One of the many men that was declared a hero is Ulysses Simpson Grant. Webster’s Dictionary defines a hero as a person of distinguished courage and ability, admired for his or her brave deeds and noble qualities. Ulysses S. Grant fits the description of a hero because he accomplished many brave deeds and showed much courage during the time of his service in the Civil War. When the Civil War broke out, Grant was working at his father’s leather store. He did not believe in fighting or war, but he knew that his country needed him.
