Interpretation of Matthias Grunewald's
The painting that I chose to reinterpret was Matthias Grunewald’s, “ The Crucifixion.”
This painting was painted during the Gothic period. The medium of this painting was oil on
wood. The content of the original painting is for Matthias to show the aim of all religious art
during this time period and proclaiming the sacred truths as taught by the church. The central
panel of the painting shows that he sacrificed all other considerations to this one overriding aim.
