What is a Catalytic Converter and How Does it Work
A catalytic converter is a device that was created in the early 80’s. It is designed to reduce the amount of harmful elements expelled from a running combustion vehicle. Over the past fifteen years this device has dramatically decreased the amount of pollution created by vehicles, while still remaining as fuel-efficient.
Most Catalytic converter are located directly in the exhaust system (Figure 1).

Some are located on a side system next to the direct exhaust line so that they can be turned on or off. Most catalytic converters are located closer to the engine of the car, so that the emissions are still vaporized when they pass through the filter.
