John Quincy Adams
Throughout the time period 1400 and 1919 there were many people who greatly impacted American history with their various contributions to this nation. John Quincy Adams was one of those people. Many people think of John Quincy Adams as just the sixth president of the United States, but really he was a lot more than just that. He impacted American history not just through his presidency, but during the time of him being a diplomat, a statesman, the secretary of state and a congressman.
In 1775, the early part of John Quincy Adams’ life he witnessed the Battle of Bunker Hill and the burning of Charlestown across the bay. This made a long impression on him. In July of 1781, at the age of 14, John Quincy Adams left for St. Petersburg as secretary to Francis Dana, who was recently appointed Minister of Russia. Then, in August, he arrived in St. Petersburg to start his 14-month stay as secretary. He played a key role because Francis Dana spoke no French, while he mastered at it. Also, he aided the French Ambassador, Marquis de Verac with English because she did not know this language.
