W.E.B Du Bois
This research paper will tell you about the life of W.E.B. Du Bois. One of Americas foremost black intellectuals, he fought the struggle for racial advancement in the first half of the 20th Century. W.E.B. Du Bois was a scholar an activist, and a writer.
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was born on February 23, 1868 in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. Parents were Alfred Du Bois and Mary Burghardt. When Du Bois was 4 months old his father left to New Milford, Connecticut. He said that he come back. But Mary and William never saw or heard of him again . Du Bois’s childhood was free of strife. Mary and William lived with Grandfather Burghardt for almost five years . Grandfather died in 1873. Du Bois started school in 1874. Du Bois was an excellent student . Racial prejudice slowly entered his life. One day was playing with calling cards. Gave calling card to white girl and she rejected it. That rejection increased his desire to succeed.
While Du Bois was growing up his mother suffered a paralytic stroke. That left her lame in one leg and a crippled left arm . Mother was not able to work a lot. To make money Du Bois delivered groceries, and a lot of other stuff. Du Bois went Great Barrin
