The Impact of Bush’s Steele Tariffs on The US Economy and Trade Relations
Three months ago our President of the United States George W. Bush, stated that the U.S., would be imposing tariffs on imported steel. The question remains to be unanswered; whether this will have a positive effect on the U.S. economy or a negative effect. Some critics say it will help, and others say it will hurt the economy. In this essay I will explain the President’s justifications for imposing the tariffs, what the pros and cons are, as well as which sectors of the economy will be affected by these tariffs positively and or negatively.
President Bush on March 5, 2002, imposed temporary safeguards to help give the steel industry in America and its hard workers a chance to adjust to the high growth of foreign steel. This according to the White House should give some kind of aid to the towns, workers, and everyone affiliated with the steel industry. As well this transition should not harm the U.S. economy at all. Bush has imposed these tariffs on several types of steel goods imported to the U.S. The President has a few reasons on why he made this big decision for the steel industry.
