Comparison of Oedipus and Moses

    Oedipus the King was written by Sophocles who was the playwright around 430 BC. A tragedy, Oedipus was the main character and was a tragic man. EXDOUS was written by Moses about 1000 BC. The writer was also the protagonist. The two works were written during two different time periods, in two different places, and were different kinds of literature. They contain many familiarities and different in the manner. Oedipus the King is a tragic play. It tells a story about the fate of the main character, Oedipus. He was the child of Jocasta and King of Laius. When he was born, he was cursed by the gods that he would kill his father and marry his mother because his mother, Jocasta was a blasphemer, an atheist. So, he was taken to the mountain by a Shepard to be killed. But the Shepard had mercy on him, did not kill him. At last, the curse came true just as the gods said, led Oedipus to the tragic end. EXDOUS, compared with Oedipus the king is a comedy. The main character, Moses was born in a slave family and happened to grow up as a prince in Egypt.
