Legalizing Hemp
Hemp is the sister plant of marijuana, also called cannabis sativa. The difference is that there is a lot less THC contained in the plant. THC is the substance, which makes cannabis sativa a drug because it causes abnormal feelings to people. Cannabis sativa has been illegal in the United States since the Great Depression. The question people ask themself is why? There could be reason to marijuana being illegal because of its affects to people, however having hemp illegal is something that is unreasonable because of its plenty of advantages. The ironic thing though is that marijuana is illegal, however alcohol is legal when alcohol kills over 150,000 people a year, not including 50% of all highway deaths. Even though no one has ever died strictly from marijuana, it is still illegal when kids have died from sniffing paint thinner. So ask yourself, why isn't paint thinner illegal? Another question people ask is, "Why is Hemp illegal when its so beneficial to our economy?" Hemp is very beneficial to our economy because it supplies food, fuel, fiber, and great industry.
