Biotechnology
I recently traveled to St. Louis Missouri. On my trip I visited the St. Louis Arch, spent an evening out on the town at places like Budweiser Brewery, Hard Rock Café, and yes, even Hooters Although these were great places to visit, the place that I thought to be the most interesting was Monsanto Industries, one of the most productive agribusiness’s in the world.
Monsanto Industries showed me what they were doing to advance biotechnology in food production. Biotechnology is being used to improve foods’ nutritional value by increasing the protein, sugar or amino acid content, or decreasing saturated fat. Food biotechnology can improve the quality, taste, and nutritional benefits of food, and make advancements in processing. Thus, providing a healthier diet to you, the consumer, and a greater availability of foods in all seasons. Today, I invite you to travel along with me on my tour as I introduce you to the process of biotechnology, it’s advantages, concerns of consumers, and the future of biotechnology in food production.
