Single and Married Motherhood
What is it like being a mom when you are single? This is a question I have been asked by many of my married friends. What is it like to have two parents? This is anther question asked of me by my single friends. This poses multiple responses from me since I have been both the single and married mom.
As a single mother I had to take care of my self during pregnancy. I had to cope with illness, fatigue, and multiple other fears while carrying my baby. I had no one there with me to help me deal with my fear, my apprehension, or my triumphs. I have often been jealous of my friends for having their significant other there to help share these blessings and sacrifices through out he pregnancy.
Once my son was born I had to make decisions for his welfare, and my own, with no one there to consult. Everything fell on me. It was hard to decide what was best when I had no sounding board for my ideas. I had a child who was one hundred percent reliant on me, as well as my self, to take care of. Trying to finish high school with a 4-mo
