Nature Preserves
Though the people who privately lease the land will disagree with me, and presumably many others, it is my opinion that the Everglades Holiday Park recreational center has not helped to preserve or better the environment in any way shape or form. Rather, I find it hard to believe that the Department of Forestry and National Parks sit idly by while a few drunken motorcycle owners wreak havoc in what is supposed to be a preserve.
I have come to this conclusion after a brief stint of walking around the park and observing, as well as taking a tour offered by the park to a small island where an alligator show is performed, and then around to take in the scenery and learn about the habitat of the creatures that abide the humans passing through. By turning that area into a park the owners have caused more litter to be strewn around carelessly into the water and surrounding areas, the animals to become fearless of and dependant on humans, as well as pollution of the habitat by boat and motor vehicle.
As I walked around the park upon my arrival I ventured out on the narrow dock built into the water. On that dock stood men and women fishing, children running around, and beer and soda cans floating in the immediate surrounding water.
