Canada History X
In the middle of the 1770’s the world was in the brink of new nation, the American Revolution was sweeping the 13 colonies of North America. By 1783, the revolution ended and created a new nation called the United States of North America. This new nation believed in liberty and freedom, any one who did not support this idea but supported the ideas of Great Britain (colonization) was considered a treat to freedom and was driven out of the country. These people who supported the British government were called the “Loyalist”. During the revolution and after it many Loyalists were kicked out of United States and sent to England or Canada. The American people consider Loyalists as traitors, since they supported British rule rather than freedom; on the other hand the Loyalists are considered heroes in England and Canada, because they stuck with the king of Great Britain. Most of the Loyalist who left America came to British North America, and eventually they become a creator of new nation called Canada. This essay will examine where the Loyalist came from? Who they were? Where they settled in British North America?, and their influence on it.
