Kurt Cobain

    Kurt Cobain Kurt Donald Cobain was the leader of Nirvana, the multiplatinum grunge band that redefined the sound of the nineties. He was born on the 20th of February 1967 in Hoquaim, a small town 140 kilometers south-west of Seattle, Washington. His mother was a cocktail waitress and his father was an auto mechanic. Cobain soon moves to nearby Aberdeen, a “depressed and dying logging town”. As a child, Kurt was always smiling and happy. But, this soon came to an end when he was seven years old and his parent’s divorced. He even claimed that he never felt loved or secure again. He became an increasingly difficult child. He also became anti-social and withdrawn from society after his parent’s divorce. He did once admit that “his parent’s traumatic split-up fueled a lot of the anguish in Nirvana’s music”. After the divorce, Kurt was shuffled back and forth between various relatives and at one stage was even living under a bridge. When Kurt Cobain was eleven his mind was captivated by the sounds of Britain’s Sex Pistols and various other British bands.
