Wrong Impressions of God and Christianity

    Many people think of God as the scrooge who sits in the sky with His big stick. Every time you get out of line, whack! He clobbers you. And if you decide to do what he wants, He will send you to “Bunga-bunga land” to preach on a street corner. I am not sure why so many people believe the things that they do. But, what I do know from my own experience is my faith has brought many great things to my life. I have never felt as though I was living a different life in a negative way. As a Christian I have grown to accept and love the person I am. My life spent on earth is time to share the good news. It is not a competition to see how successful I will be as a businesswoman. My career is based on helping others grow to our Lord. It is a choice I have made because my heart desires it. Some people think of Jesus as this as this weak, pale Jewish fellow who died 2,000 years ago. The assumption: “Following Jesus means I must wear a dorky looking outfit, carry a fifty pound King James Bible and hang a sign on my back that says, “beat me up; I’m a Christian whimp.” Ask the average person on the street what it means to be a Christian and he will probably answer, “Christianity is a bunch of rules.” Too many peo
