Alfred Steiglitz
Alfred Stieglitz- The Patriotic Photographer
“Liberty, freedom, happiness, free speech, no interference from the next man, there are common American rights, however debased in practice. To preserve these rights from corruption has been Stieglitz’s endeavor.” (Frank)
There is no way to completely document the life of a photographer’s thoughts and intentions. The only thing he leaves behind are his photographs when, if studied, could possibly become a window into his mind. But, interpretations are personal and different to everyone who views art. Each piece of art portrays the author’s thoughts or something the artist wants to publicize. Alfred Stieglitz is one of these photographers who changed the way many people thought about art and its importance.
At the turn of the nineteenth century, a man was born to turn around the emotions of photography. On January 1, 1864, Alfred Stieglitz was born in New York where he became influenced and soon became one of the most influential voices in Modernist Art (Frank). He was the voice of the American society, and took this freedom to follow his photographic desires. He let the subject matter determine it's own degree of refinement. He was a true pioneer of his field
