Decision-Making by the Book
The book Decision-Making by the Book written by Haddon Robinson and is 166 pages long. This book is a “how to” book that explains ways to find ways to make decisions the right way. His three main principles in the first half of the book are: submission to the sovereign will of God, submission to the moral will of God, and making decisions based on the motive of love and seeking the best for others. In the second half he talks about his personal analysis, using the apostle Paul a lot to make his points.
The first chapter is all about how we as a world have come up with many different ways of making our decisions, many, if not most, are not helpful, and in most cases not in God’s perfect will. In fact, throughout history people have been seeking the mind of God. Some ancient peoples thought that they could find out the mind of their god by looking at the liver. Some others in the ancient world consulted the stars. The Greece and Roman people consulted oracles, but as all these cultures found out, these were all wrong. One thing that has stuck around, and many Christians are close to practicing, is divination.
