How Star Wars Relates to Mythology

    As Darth Vader's tall black figure stepped forward, Obi Wan Kenobi raised his lightsaber to his head in sacrifice. In the film Star Wars, the elements of mythology are shown throughout the film. The quest, flawed mortals, and deity help shape the film. Watching this film has shown me that mythology can relate to my everyday life and that there are many morals, problems and solutions in just one myth. Luke Skywalker stared at his aunt and uncle's burnt bodies, the only family he knew, still smoking in the desert. He made eye contact with Obi Wan Kenobi and said," I want to become a Jedi like my father before me." Luke Skywalker's quest is to follow in his father's footsteps to become a Jedi and fight against the evil empire. Luke's quest begins when he leaves Tatooine, his home planet, and begins learning the ways of The Force. His quest continues when Luke rescues Princess Leia , who is being held captive on the Death Star. Luke's final step of his quest in the movie is when he destroys the Death Star by using The Force.
