Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born on January 27, 1756 in Salzburg, Austria to Leopold Mozart (1719-1787) and Anna Maria Pertl. Being the seventh and last child of his parents, only he and their fourth child, Maria Anna, survived. Mozart was actually christened as "Joannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus," but later adopted the Latin term for Theophilus, "Amadeus," as his name of choice.
