Did television force USA to leave Vietnam

    Showing the Vietnam War television made many Americans far more anti-war than anything else. The full brutality of the war was seen in their living rooms. Sources D to J give different reasons as to why America pulled out of the war. Some of them support that the reason was television however some sources say otherwise. Source E is the only source that would have been directly shown on television. It shows two small children running away with camera men behind them. When the Americans saw this on television they would have felt sorry for the Vietnamese, especially as young children were victims of napalm so this source does support that television was the reason why the United States pulled out of the war. America would have also lost support from the Vietnamese as they were dropping chemical warfare on their children and destroying their crops with Napalm and Agent Orange. This also suggests why the Vietnamese did not want American as their allies. Source D sums up another reason why USA pulled out. It is a North Vietnamese poster, showing the problems the Americans faced while fighting a guerrilla war. USA were not getting very far with the war at all.
