Style
Sting has a unique style just as Jimmy Buffet and Tool, however what they lack is Sting's massive popularity as a musician throughout the world for more than twenty years in the realm of "pop" music. Unlike Jimmy Buffet, Sting began his career in the light of the music-video television generation and has maintained a steam locomotive's momentum throughout the years of video and radio play with both his early band, the Police, and his success as a solo artist. The elements of style are sometimes vague due to his "pop" sound, but the use of syncopated and intertwined musical lines from the guitar, bass, and the percussion give a basis for his style. On his last two albums he incorporated the trumpet as an instrument in his band, an instrument which has a similar timbre to his own voice as he has aged. Another of his stylistic traits is his use of the classical guitar on many of his personal ballads dealing with his past and his personal beliefs. Sting also loves to work in odd meters as
