Matrix
The Matrix is regarded as a classic modern thriller set approximately two centuries in the future. The movie covers themes about love and sacrifice but mainly poses the question: what is real? Reality is portrayed as a relative entity, never to be assumed or taken for granted. The validity of personal assumption is plainly questioned with the subject of the “Matrix” as a powerful illusion. This illusion can be compared to the illusions that individuals see in life. Peoples’ beliefs often contradict the truth, as revealed in the film, and this subject directly applies to society in terms of religion. For different reasons many people believe in the lie that there is no God or that many gods exist. This blasphemous viewpoint contradicts God’s Word and therefore must be addressed by any God-fearing society. The characterization in The Matrix parallels figures and events in the Bible to communicate the message of God’s truth as it relates to reality in the film.
In the movie, reality is portrayed as a world very different from the peoples’ perception of it. The slaves of the Matrix see the programmed images of their false reality, with no doubt in its validity. As a result they cling blindly to their
