Media Bias
Is the news media biased toward liberals? Yes. Is the news media biased toward conservatives? Yes. These questions are very ambiguous because it is impossible to find evidence to “prove” media bias of one way or another. Accuracy in Media claims the news media are biased toward liberal politics. They claim on their website that “all the major media surveys for the past 20 years have shown that 80 to 90 percent of the mainstream media consistently vote for Democrats.” Fairness & Accuracy in Media claims the news media are biased toward conservative politics. Supporters of these views see one group as right and the other as wrong. But the reality is not that simple. Yes, AIM and FAIR each point out coverage that appears to back up their various claims. At times, the media do seem to be biased one way or another.
In America we value the freedom of the press. The press is the one place where most Americans go to get educated on issues facing their community, state, and nation. The press decides which issues to report and how to report them. In order to improve the nation and world, the media should present their unbiased findings to allow people to make up their own minds.
