Dwight D. Eisenhower, A President to Remember Dwight D. Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas. His parents, David and Ida met when they were students at Lane University. They got married in 1885. David’s dad was a farmer, and for his wedding gift he gave them a 160-acre farm and 2,000 dollars. Both of them hated the farm and sold it to invest in a small general store, which failed and they went broke. David left to go to Texas in order to get the family back on its feet.
