Chernobyl
The tragedy of the Chernobyl incident will continue to effect generations to come. This disaster is, “…regarded as the world’s worst nuclear accident…” (Gould 13). It forced the world to realize that the once hailed form of power did possess its faults, and was indeed not the previously thought ideal answer. This mishap was the result of, “…‘unbelievable’ errors in judgment by the plant’s technicians…” (Gould 13), and may have been avoided.

This message was sent soon after the explosion. According to David Lillie, “[a]t 1:23 AM on Saturday, 26 April, the worst accident in the
history of commercial nuclear power was initiated” (209). Jay Gould testifies that the disaster of Chernobyl all begin when reactor 4,
which was being tested, malfunctioned. This malfunction caused an explosion which, “…split the reactor core…” thus causing the, “…core [to burn] for two more
