Power and Authority
Power is the ability to change the behaviour of another person. Authority is 'legitimate power' – the person has the right to have that power. Tony Blair’s authority is said to be legitimate because the people of Britain chose him to be the Prime Minister in a fair electoral system. His position gives him power, and because he obtained that power legitimately, he also has authority.
