Operational Motivational Plan
In this plan I would like to like to define the roles of the manager and organization, policy definitions, specific incentive plans and measures to provide value-added results.
Let’s start with defining the role of the manager. This is a broad area and I would like to focus on the manager being proactive and understanding the values of the employees under her/her charge. My main goal here is to have the manager use information from the science of organizational behavior as his/her tool in being an effective manager.
A major concern of the managers should be understanding the values of their employees in order to understand their attitudes. In turn this will provide the manager with an inside look at what motivates his employees. The three main areas of interest are attitudes, perception, and learning (Robbins).
A person’s attitude will influence one’s behavior (Robbins). Understanding the employee’s attitude helps the manager determine what will help the employee become more productive. More importantly, helping the employee become more productive will lead to job satisfaction. This runs contrary to the popular belief that a happy employee is a productive employee. As one
