Cat People and Wolf Man

    Two Different Sides “Horror films are designed to frighten and to invoke our hidden fears, often in a terrifying, shocking finale, while captivating and entertaining us at the same time in a cathartic experience”(Dirks 787). Even though horror movies are meant to scare people, they continue to see these movies. Horror movies focus on the part of our lives that are dark, and the strange and alarming events that take place in them. Although movies in the beginning of the horror genre are completely different both in style and story, they still have that sense of unawareness, and utter eeriness. Both The Cat People and The Wolf Man are two examples of movies in the beginning of the horror genre. Ultimately, like many other horror films, they have a villain that is viewed as evil, a love interest, conflicting personalities within themselves, a feeling of pity for them, and “a return to normalcy and victory over the monstrous” (Dirks 788).
