In the Washington Post, Michael Wilbon, wrote a Sports Column entitled They Gave It There Best Shot. In this article Wilbon put his own spin on the conclusion of the Maryland Terrapins dramatic season. Wilbon uses the phrases “an up-from-the-canvas-at-the-count-of-nine feel to it” and “pedal-to-the-medal effort” to describe Maryland’s season ending loss to the Michigan State Spartans in the sweet sixteen of the NCAA tournament. Also in this article Michael Wilbon recaptures the accomplished careers of Maryland seniors Steve Blake, Tahj Holden, and Drew Nicholas labeling there career at Maryland as the “most glorious era of University of Maryland basketball.” This article is a great sports column because it gives Wilbon’s opinion to the Terrapins theatrical season.
