Bumble Bee
The name of my insect is the bumblebee. I choose this insect because bumblebees are interesting compared to butterflies, caterpillars, and grasshoppers. Bumblebees are not harmful to plants, but can be harmful to man. Because of the stingers on bees, bees are allowed to protect themselves from anything. Bumblebees can sting, at least the queens and workers can, and their sting is not barbed like that of the honeybee, so they can sting more than once.
A bumblebee has a lot of body parts. I’ll start off in order.
1) The Skeleton
Like all insects, bumblebees do not have a skeleton inside their bodies, (they are invertebrates and have no backbones). They have a hard outer covering that acts like armour and protects them from damage or from drying out. This armour coating is called an ‘exoskeleton’.
2) The Head
Bumblebees have large eyes and a good sense of smell, which helps them to find good flowers to feed from. They are very clever, and make maps in their heads, which show them the way home.
3) The Thorax
Bumblebees are large furry, black bees with yellow or orange markings or bandings on the abdomen, thorax and sometimes the head.
