Love Turns
Love can go one way on the first day, and the total opposite on the second day. That’s what is so great about love, you never know where it will take you, but everyone hopes that it leads you along the path of happiness. Where will love take you next? You’ll never know until you take that road. Hopefully you will not have ride along the “Thunder Road”, like Springsteen. His song, as well as Costello’s is very similar, but very unique in its own way. I Want You to follow me along the Thunder Road for a few minutes.
Springsteen’s piece is of course a song of troubled love; as well as Costello’s, I Want You. At the beginning of Thunder Road, it seems as if he getting dumped by his girlfriend. It explains this heart break in a different way, but he sings, “The screen door slams, Mary’s dress waves”. It shows that she is mad, or upset, and she slams the door and her dress waves from the breeze, as if she was actually waving good-bye to him with hand. In “I Want You”, the beginning also shows some kind of break up. He says, “Oh my baby baby I love you more than I can tell, I don’t think I can live without you and I know I never will.
