Dear Journal,
Today is the second of January in the year Sixteen-Twenty-One. We are in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Plymouth, being a newly founded colony, is not yet very large and there is little food remaining in the colony. The settlers here seem to get along exceptionally well and have so far been welcoming towards us, despite the struggles of their young colony. They arrived only weeks ago after spending 66 treacherous days aboard their ship the Mayflower. The Pilgrims left England because they believed that The Church of England needed to be reformed, and were persecuted for their beliefs. They were searching for religious freedom in the New World.
