Not So Innocent
As I sit here pondering what I am going to write about all I can focus in on is how much the girl in the picture is asking to be raped. The more and more I think about this painting and what exactly it is that the painter, Pierre Cot, is trying to depict the more I begin to realize this girl is not as innocent as she seems. At first I believed Cot was depicting a completely innocent girl with a young man with only one thing in mind. So here is my explanation of the painting entitled The Storm.
It was May 3, 1879, and a young man named Charles and young woman named Candice, both appeared to be in their late teens to early twenties, agreed to have a picnic in the park. It was a clear and sunny day although there was a seventy percent chance of rain. Just as the two get settled on the blanket and were about to munch into their food, an enormous storm cloud emerged above them. They readily gathered their belongings and begin their escape from the storm. Precisely as the picnic basket was picked up there was a loud bolt of lighting and thunder and then
